Tourism TDT Coalition Press Conference

 

 


FRLA, in cooperation with CFHLA, is coordinating a Press Conference in
Tallahassee on Tuesday, February 10th, 12:00 Noon

The purpose of this Press Conference is to reinforce - prior to the start of the

"Legislative Session" - the importance and integrity of the Tourist Development Tax.

CFHLA will be forwarding an official invite to all members - to attend and support this state-wide industry issue.

As a CFHLA Member, please plan to attend this public policy activity.

Remember, your voice "can make a difference."

Governor Crist Supports Tourism by Vetoing Proposed Visit Florida Cuts

Great News . . .

On Tuesday, January 27th,
Florida Governor Charlie Crist vetoed the $9.9 million proposed cut from Visit Florida.

The governor vetoed a total of $90 million cuts proposed by the $2.6 billion deficit-reduction package created during the special legislative session in early January.

This veto demonstrates the Governor's support for tourism.

CFHLA Meeting with Representative Dean Cannon Before Legislative Session

  CFHLA Board Members will be attending a private meeting with Rep. Dean Cannon on Friday, February 27th, 9:30am at the GrayRobinson offices in Downtown Orlando.

The purpose of this meeting - to be held the Friday before the Legislative Session - is to reinforce the value of the Tourist Development Tax for the State of Florida.

West Orange Chamber of Commerce Hosts Commissioner Teresa Jacobs "Roast"

The West Orange Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a “Roast” for former Orange County Commissioner Teresa Jacobs on Thursday, March 5th at Wild West in Ocoee.

CFHLA will be reserving a table at this event.

 

Importantly, CFHLA President Rich Maladecki has been asked to one of the “Roasters.”

For the third consecutive year, your CFHLA has been invited to host the annual State of the County Address with Mayor Richard Crotty. 

This informative community gathering is set to occur on Friday, June 5th.

Mark Your Calendar: CFHLA Tourism Days


A new strategy being implemented by FRLA will encourage members of the hospitality industry from different regions in Florida to visit elected leaders in Tallahassee during the Legislative Session.

The purpose of this new strategy is to - on a weekly basis - reinforce tourism's issues during the Session.

The following dates, March 23rd and March 24th, have been designated as CFHLA’s Tourism Days in
Tallahassee (please save these dates).

Thus, CFHLA will coordinate actual 30 minute meetings with each member of the Central Florida Elected Delegation, to discuss tourism issues.

Invitations will be sent to all CFHLA Members, encouraging attendance for this activity.

City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is Employee Recognition Reception Guest

City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will be the special guest for the CFHLA Annual Employee Recognition Dinner which recognizes 180 “front line” employees of CFHLA member hotels.


This year the CFHLA Employee Recognition Dinner sponsored by Bright House Networks, will be held on January 29th,
6:00pm at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress.

CFHLA thanks Mr. Dyer for his continued support of the hospitality industry.

2009 FRLA Board Meets in Central Florida

The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) met in Orlando at Disney’s Grand Floridian from January 24th - 27th. On Sunday, January 25th the FRLA Government Relations Committee met with Florida House Representative Scott Randolph, District 36, the honorary guest at this meeting.

  • Excise and Alcohol Beverages Tax
  • Expedia Room Tax Rates

CFHLA President Rich Maladecki and Board Member Ron Caimano attended this important meeting of 70 industry executives.
