Quick thinking and exceptional attention to detail made all the difference for Jose “Jay” Maldonado, whose actions helped bring a major organized retail theft ring to justice.

While on duty at the gatehouse in October 2025, Jay identified two individuals attempting to access the property who seemed familiar. Trusting his instincts and strong situational awareness, he recognized them from a robbery he had witnessed just days earlier—even noting they were wearing the same clothing.

Acting swiftly and in full alignment with security protocols, Jay alerted management and coordinated with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. His prompt response led to the suspects’ arrest and ultimately contributed to uncovering a larger shoplifting operation responsible for tens of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

Jay’s actions are a powerful example of vigilance, professionalism, and the impact of “See Something, Say Something.” His commitment not only supported a significant law enforcement effort but also strengthened the safety and security of The Grove Resort & Water Park.
