Russ Robers
Hyatt Regency Orlando World Center International Airport
Outstanding Food & Beverage Employee of the Year
As the Outstanding Food and Beverage Service Employee of the Year, Russ Robers has a presence that creates comfort, connection, and a true sense of welcome for every guest he encounters.
In a setting where guests are constantly coming and going, Russ has an incredible ability to make every person feel at home. With 38 years of professional experience and a deep knowledge of the hospitality industry, he has built a reputation as a trusted and steady leader. He is known for arriving early, preparing with intention, and setting the standard for what it means to be ready for whatever the day may bring.
What truly sets Russ apart is his instinct to care for guests in ways that go far beyond what is expected.
One evening, while engaging with guests at the hotel bar, Russ learned they had an early flight the next morning. The guests shared details of their itinerary, but something did not seem right. Russ realized they were headed to the wrong airport, as their flight was departing from Sanford Airport rather than Orlando International Airport.
Before panic could set in, Russ sprang into action, immediately collaborating with the front desk team to adjust the guests’ reservations and secure a room at a hotel closer to the Sanford Airport. Because of his quick thinking and genuine concern, the guests were able to travel to the correct location, rest comfortably, and make their flight on time.
On numerous occasions, Russ has not just provided service for the evening, he has truly saved the day. Whether guests are celebrating an anniversary, the kickoff to their honeymoon, or a birthday, he consistently relays this information to his managers and helps make arrangements to enhance their stay.
This kind of hospitality cannot be scripted. It is instinctive, it is heartfelt, and it is rare.
Additionally, Russ continues to mentor younger bartenders, teaching them tricks of the trade and consistently finding ways to improve both the guest experience and the work experience of his coworkers.
