2026 Second Quarter CFHLA Security & Safety Council Lifesaving Service Award Honoree – Sven Zickermann, Orange Lake Resort

The CFHLA Security & Safety Council proudly recognized Sven Zickermann, Security Officer at Orange Lakes Resort, as the recipient of the 2026 Security & Safety Council Service Award.
Earlier this year, Zickermann responded to a serious vehicle accident that occurred in the resort’s West Village parking lot, involving a Chrysler van and a rental golf cart occupied by a family of five, including a newborn. The collision resulted in multiple injuries, including critical injuries to a 50-year-old woman who suffered severe lacerations, a significant skin avulsion, and life-threatening hemorrhaging.
While assigned to dispatch duties, Zickermann immediately recognized the severity of the incident and took decisive action. He delegated dispatch responsibilities to a secondary operator and responded directly to the scene, where he quickly assessed the situation, triaged the victims, and identified the most critically injured individual.
Drawing on his training, composure, and sound judgment under pressure, Zickermann made the critical decision to apply a tourniquet to control the victim’s severe bleeding. His timely intervention helped stabilize the critically injured victim while he continued assisting other victims and coordinating care until emergency responders arrived.
Zickermann’s willingness to go above and beyond his assigned duties, remain calm in a chaotic and high-stakes situation, and provide compassionate care to multiple victims demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the safety and well-being of resort guests.
Congratulations to Sven Zickermann on this well-deserved recognition and for his extraordinary actions that made a meaningful difference during a critical emergency!
